What Should We Do?!

He's 21
I'm 19
He's a Christian
I'm a Christian
He's at the Citadel
I'm at Trident Tech
He likes me
I like him
If you look at us we're like two peas in a pod.
His parents don't want him dating
Mine don't really care
What should we do?!
Options:
1. Just be friends
2. Date and sneak around from his parents
3. Wait
Yep, that's what I thought... it doesn't look good for the dating aspect. We really don't wanna go against his parent's wishes, but we also want to date. AHHH...I really hate parent's decisions sometimes. I am glad he's willing to respect their wishes though. He's 21 and going to be a Marine when he graduates from the Citadel; I think he can make his own decisions now. I know they probably don't want any distractions for him before he accomplishes his goals. But you know what?! I'm NOT going to be a distraction 'cause I KNOW he can accomplish alot, and I don't wanna be the one to stand in his way. I want to see him succeed. This is sooo frustrating!!! Oh well, that's life I guess.

Good to go!!!
Roger!!!

My life during the year 2009

2009 was an interesting year. The year started off with my brothers and I getting in trouble for sneaking beer into the house. I was grounded for 6 months. I had to talk to my Varsity basketball coaches and tell them what happened. Honestly, I thought they were going to tell me that I couldn’t be team captain anymore. They didn’t. They just made me sit out one game. That was a joke ‘cause they let our starting players play for 3 minutes and then sat out for the rest of the game.

Basketball was a joke this year. There was NO competition in our division this year. We put in our starters for half the game and then let the second and third string play the rest of the game. We were really discouraged. We were in a Home School tournament in GA at the end of the season. We could have come out first but didn’t. I think we got 5th place. We played a team called the Mustangs. We could have beaten them but choked. The next day we played another team. We tied and went into overtime. We lost by 1 point. It was so disappointing. Our third game we won. It was really discouraging. We came back a different team. The next end of the year tournament we played was in Greenville, SC. We won it the year before. We went in playing the # 4 team and LOST! Our coaches made up play with plays we had just learned and spent and hour practicing. Our entire team went to the bathroom and cried. We were so mad. Of course we were supposed to play the Upstate Eagles in the championship but got 3rd place. It was a very disappointing senior year. Oh, and here’s another thing. Both those tournament’s winning teams went to play for nationals and the Mustangs won 1st and the Upstate Eagles won 3rd! :O Yea, we could have won NATIONALS! Oh well…

Then the time for prom came. I helped my mom decorate and plan prom. It was great!!! Mrs. Feldt helped too! We all really enjoyed it. The group that I went with was Russell Payne, Ian Neuhaus, Jordan Stauffer, Bethany Moller, Charles Lanning, Zack Bearden, Cathrine, and Me. We all went as friends! It was a really fun time. We rented a limo, went to the Olive Garden, went to prom, and then came back to my house for a bon fire and s’mores!

Ian wanted to ask me out to prom the entire second semester. I really would have liked to go with him, but I didn’t want him to think that I liked him. Michael Feldt helped set up prom and come to prom and then helped clean up prom. That was really hard for me ‘cause I liked him so much. We enjoyed spending time together some…

Graduation was next! Seniors of the class of ’09. There was NO better class of kids! We prepared for graduation for so long. It was a really nice day. We sang “The National Anthem”, “In Christ Alone”, and “Lifesong”. A lot of our seniors weren’t very talented at singing so it was really hard to go to practice prepared and they didn’t have any clue on what they were doing. After prom we went to Megan’s party! Mr. Feldt told me that Michael and I needed to hang out and go to dinner sometime soon. Michael agreed this plan. The next day Russell and I had our graduation party at our house! It was really great ‘cause ALL of the people we love came! I think this was my FAVORITE time in the world!

Summer: I went to the Anchorage camp during the summer. It was 11 weeks of camp. I was an O.P. staff girl. We cooked, cleaned, ran the snack shop, waitressed, etc… It was a really challenging summer for many different reasons but it was so enjoyable! There was a week during the middle of camp that we went to a race that was 5 miles. I actually ran it in less than an hour! I was really excited!

I really liked Caleb Sparrow the entire summer. It was kinda weird ‘cause he was the first guy that I really liked since breaking up with Michael. Alexa got in my business the entire summer trying to make sure Caleb and I got together. It was a mess! Everyone hated that I liked him. But guess what?! I stayed away from him other than on weekends. We agreed that he and I would work during the week and talk on the weekends. The last day I was at camp was the best ‘cause Caleb and I talked for a long time and got to hang out!!! It was amazing. I knew we would see each other at BJU. That was promising!

Every weekend we got our phones back after we finished eating our lunch and had our weekly staff meeting! I would text Michael every weekend and on Monday morning I would call him. It was really fun ‘cause I was always working and he was always working but we made time to talk!

The Fourth of July was really fun ‘cause I came home and Michael came over to hang. We ate dinner and then blew up frogs! Lol! It was a real enjoyable evening. I gave Michael a Chevy shirt for his birthday and he gave me a Browning necklace. I love it! I wear it ALL the time!

I went home for about 2 months after camp.

I went to BJU in the fall. I took Bio 102 (and a 2 hr. lab), English 101, Food Prep (and a 2 hr. lab), Speech, Orientation, and Old Testament. I worked 10 hours a week in the Dining Common. I joined the Bandits!!! It was an awesome society. I played volleyball- #15. My dorm was Nell Sunday 233. My roommates were Brittany, Anna, and Chelsea. I was at BJU for 2 ½ months and got kicked out.

My best friends were Kristin King, Rene, Tyler Mills, Caleb Sparrow, Jillian, Kaylie Westmoreland, and Wendi Tripp (there were some more). Caleb asked my dad if he and I could date. My dad said that we couldn’t at the moment ‘cause my family didn’t know him. I spent ALL my free time with Caleb. Goodness, I really liked him.

My roommates said that I stole one of their sweaters. :O Yea, me steal something?! Right. Well, they got away with it and I came home.

I came home and found a job at Old Fort’s Kid’s Fort after school program. It was a blessing from God ‘cause the economy is not the best at the moment. I love my job!!! I am a teacher for preschoolers through first graders. Jaden, Jared, Grace, Hailey, Shelbie, Aaliyah, Matthew, Ty, Rachel, and Katie are my little treasured students.

I got accepted to Trident Technical College for next semester! I am going for FREE! Even my books are paid for. I plan on taking History 101, Computer 101, English 102, and Speech. I would love to take more but I’m also going to be working so I don’t think I could take a lot more. I might add on a 3 hour class that’s for preparing Freshman for college. EASY!

My church has been really supportive! I love them so much! I have gone back to the youth group ‘cause I have a couple of girls that I absolutely adore. I’ve been apart of our deeper subjects and just being there for them ‘cause they have been there for me. I am back in our praise team!!! Catie, Mariah, Rachel, Rebekah, and I are planning on recording some stuff that we’ve sung and sing at other churches. We will be starting all of that up next year (which is soon!).

New Year’s Eve plans: Russell, Andrew, Andrea, Evan, Michael, John, and I are going over to the Waddell’s house to eat dinner, set off fireworks, watch movies, go in the hot tub, and just have a great time!!! :D

Even though 2009 was challenging at times there was NO way I would change anything in it! There were so many lessons that I needed to learn, so many people I met and love, so many things I regret, etc…! The main thing that I learned was from camp- Glorifying God in your life (Ephesians 1:12).

(There’s probably a lot more that I did and learned, but I can’t remember it at the moment. I am so glad they have an “edit” button on this blog!)

Guarding My Heart More Each Time

Yet again…yes, yet again I can feel the tension in the relationship grow. Of course, this hasn’t been my first breakup. It's starting to make me guard my heart more each time. I have started to realize that guys don’t like commitment. They just wanna have fun. When they aren’t having fun or it’s getting too serious it’s time to let go of the relationship. It’s sad. I know… a little too well, but it’s life now. It doesn’t matter how old you are or how long you’ve been together nowadays it’s going to happen.

How can we stop this unfaithful and self-centered nation to remember how relationships are to be treated with respect and with unconditional love?!

As I said, “It’s starting to make me guard my heart more each time."

Who wants to go through life worrying whether or not he’s going to stay with you always or when he gets what he wants just to get up and leave? Not me, that’s for sure!

So, what are we going to do about this? Stop living in fear. Don’t go for the fist guy who takes and interest in you. Do your research. You can look but don’t touch. Don’t buy until you know for a fact there is no better deal. If you’re not sure… don’t settle. NEVER settle for second best.

I have come to this conclusion because I guard my heart a little more each time...

When God Writes Your Love Story

"I think we should break up," he softly said. Those were the words I'd been dreading for months. "I'm ready to start seeing other people."

My trembling fingers tightened around the phone cord, and I choked back a sob that threatened to explode from my tightening lungs. There was a long, awkward pause as he waited for me to speak. My only consolation was that he could not see my pale face. I would never have been able to hide my devastated expression had he been in the room at that heart-wrenching moment.

The nightmare had come true...again. What had started out as a harmless, fun, innocent relationship had slowly become complicated entanglement of emotions and passion, only to end abruptly now that the fire had ended. The cutting pain that ruthlessly squeezed my heart was so intense I could scarcely breathe. Somehow, I managed to end the phone call with at least a small amount of dignity. As I placed the receiver into its cradle, a dark cloud of despair overcame me, mercilessly pouring a violent torrent of rejection and hopelessness into my reeling mind.

It was over. Once again, I was in for a sleepless night of agony, hours of weeping until no more tears would come. Once again, I would have to face the aching, desperate loneliness of walking into a crowded room full of strangers-with no hand to hold, no strong arm to gently rest on my back and give me security. Once again, I was alone.

How many years had I longed and urgently searched for true love? How many nights had I lain awake, dreaming of a beautiful romance-a lasting relationship that wouldn't end in heartache?

I had made incredible sacrifices in an attempt to somehow cling to every short-lived dating relationship that came my way. I had given pieces of myself away to each man that came into my life-pieces of my heart, my emotions, and even my body. Yet once he had tired of me, my fragile heart would be played with and then carelessly tossed aside. Even if I was the one who ended a relationship, the heartbreaking pain was inevitable. Every time it felt like something precious was being violently ripped from inside of me.

I yearned to be loved and cherished. I had dreamed of a perfect love story for my entire life. But somewhere in the midst of the endless cycle of one temporary romance after the next, my dreams had shattered right along with the broken fragmented pieces of my heart.

I had asked others for advice. Those from the older generation had simply given guidelines to follow, which were so completely out of touch with the reality of my world that they were worthless to me. As a Christian, I had listened carefully to the instructions given by the church leaders, and tried to follow the Christian rules of dating to the letter. But their rules never protected me from a broken heart and shattered life.

When I turned to those in the younger generation, I found we were all in the same boat: an endless cycle or shallow and cheap romances that never lasted and left us emotionally bleeding and insecure. In fact, the pain I experienced was small compared to what many of my friends had gone through.

As I lay on my bed pondering these thoughts, I found myself inwardly forming a desperate prayer.

"God, where are You in this?" my heart cried. "I am Your child. All my life, You know I have longed for something beautiful. I have searched for true love. Does a pure and perfect romance even exist in this dark world of lust and perversion and sin? Should I even dare to dream of something beyond the shallow, meaningless, cheap version of love I've know so far?"

Then came a soft, gentle tugging upon my heart. Suddenly I somehow knew that my life did not need to be this way and that God had something better for me. It was almost as if God Himself was reminding me, I am the Author of true love; I am the Creator of romance.

A quiet challenge deeply touched my spirit in that moment. It was as if God was tenderly standing before me, with tears of boundless love in His eyes, whispering to my heart, You have searched for true love in your own way. But My ways are not your ways. I want to script a beautiful tale just for you, but first you must trust Me with the pen of this precious area of your life. Will you let Me write your love story?

It wasn't too long after that tear-filled, hopeless night that my unforgettable journey began. It was a journey to discover something I never before knew existed- the matchless beauty of a God-written love story. More out of desperation than confidence, I invited the Creator of the universe to be the center of my love life. Did He disappoint me? Quite the opposite. I was soon to discover that my most faithful Friend in the entire world, who loved me more than I could comprehend, had a plan for my love life that would take my breath away with its beauty.

As for God, His way is perfect. ~ Psalm 18:30, NIV

Find A Guy Like That

Find a guy that makes you happy
One that whenever you think about him you smile and get butterflies in your stomach
Find a guy that knows the little details about you
One who knows each of your deferent smiles
One that loves you even when you're acting crazy
One that will hold you when you cry
One you can run to when you have a paper cut and he'll kiss it and make it better
One that when you're with him the world around you disappears
And when you look into his eyes you smile 'cause you see his love for you every time he looks at you
A guy that the conversation never dies
And even if there's silence, it's like you're still talking
Find a guy like that

Always

You always know what to do

There couldn't be anyone any better

When my heart's broken

You always help put it back together

Not with duck tape or superglue

But with your love

Chorus:

You've always had a place in my heart

From the very start

You'll always be my best friend

When everything's going wrong

You'll always be the one whom I depend

You'll always be my prince charming

And I don't deserve the love you're giving

You'll always be able to light up my sky

My eyes sparkle with excitement when you walk in

There's always a smile on my face

And everyone knows why

You always put a smile on my face

And a twinkle in my eyes

Chorus:

Tag:

I'll always be your best friend

I'll always be your little angel

I'll always be

I'll always be…

We'll always be best friends
